3 Little Known Secrets Your Franchise Consultant May Not Tell You

Intrigued?

As a franchise consultant, I get to talk to franchise developers all the time, and work closely with potential franchisees – all to make sure we find the perfect match! The franchise business follows the philosophy in which consultants like me become the matchmakers. As a consultant, I usually only need three things to figure things out for you what most experts won't tell you. If they would tell you, it might cost you a lot of money just to get access to them.

Here are the 3 secrets every franchise consultant may never tell you – but you need to know!

1. Consultants review franchise developers’ expectations.
2. Consultants always look into the franchisee's personality.
3. Consultants always consider the abilities of both parties.

At the first glance, it seems easy to gain access to. However, let's take a look at each one in the list. Are you ready? Here we go....

1. Consultants review franchise developers’ expectations.

A franchise business requires the active participation of franchise developers and franchisees. It takes two to tango. One cannot work without the other. So, finding a common ground between the two is a must.

Perhaps, you're wondering why until now, after all, you've done looking for your franchise business, none of them worked or been a good match yet. You may have been thinking about quitting and searching for a new job instead.

Providing a great relationship with the franchise developer and my clients may be quite challenging, but being able to set the franchise developer's expectations about the potential candidate from the beginning can help the match work.

2. Consultants always look into the franchisee's personality.

Finding a specific lucrative franchise business model is not enough to make it work. Even if it has proven its effectiveness for other people, it doesn't mean it will also work for you. This is part of setting expectations.

As a franchise consultant, I always look into the client's personality first before I start searching for the right franchise business. Otherwise, a franchise business may not work, if I only consider the profitability while not taking into account the person's habits, interests, or strengths.

For instance, the client may prefer a laid-back lifestyle over hectic and seemingly productive daily routines. In that case, I have to find the right model for this person or meet up with the franchise developers who could provide solutions for this particular client

3. Consultants always consider the abilities of both parties.

This is the last, but not the least, the point I want to emphasize about the secrets that some franchise consultants may never tell you. Well, aside from setting up the franchisee's and the franchise developer's expectations at the early stage and reviewing the client's personality, the abilities of both must match up. What do I mean by this?

When considering the level of support that is provided by the franchise, and what the potential franchisee might need, I typically ask the following questions:

a. How much support does the client want from the franchise developers and vice versa?
b. What lifestyle does the client look for when choosing the franchise business?

Having clients provide this information is always needed. For me, the responses I get from my clients have helped me find the right franchise business that fits their lifestyle or their personality as a whole and not the other way around.

Final thoughts

It is my pleasure to help you reach your dreams in the franchise business. But without the client's participation or the franchise developers and vice versa, there is a smaller chance of success.

Therefore, every franchise consultant should know the franchise developer's expectations and be able to find those potential franchisees that will match up.

Also taking into consideration the franchisee's personality is key. The client's lifestyle should match with the franchise developer's demands and what is required for the business operations.

Lastly, reviewing the abilities of both parties should also be part of the consultation process to make sure both are getting the chance to make a good partnership.
